Having procedures in your classroom is not only important for your own classroom, but is essential for having structure set forth for the students wherever they are in the school. By not having the basic structures in place, students tend to test boundaries and test limits with inappropriate behavior. Having procedures that are free of academic language allows for students and even thier parents the chance to understand all procedures and essentially feel comfortable i the classroom and with the instructor as well. With students consistently following procedure, it is much easier to reinforce the behavior more oftern and allows all students to enter and leave the classroom on a positive note. when it comes to procedure, it is not only a routine for the students to follow, it allows the students to keep each other safe and allows them to execute the routine in a safe way for all students.

Classroom Procedure:

  1. Students will enter the gym and have a seat on the colored tape that designates what group they belong to.

  2. If any students have a question prior to the warm up, they may ask now.

  3. Once I have everone's attention, as a class, each group with circle up near their line and work through the warm up activity associated with the lesson for the day.

  4. Unless advised by the instructor, the students will go through that days lesson with the students in their group.

  5. After each days activity, the students will perform a cool down activity as a class.

  6. Unless a students engages me, water breaks will be reserved for the cool down activity.

  7. Once the cool down is over, students will then return to their designated lines and have a seat.

  8. Once the regular ed instructor comes to retrieve the students, only the most quietest lines will line up first in order to return to class.
